This enchanting, romantic, Cotswold stone cottage nestles in the peaceful beech woods of the beautiful Toadsmoor valley; with the nearest road stopping at the hamlet of Bismore. You can be guaranteed no traffic, no roads, just peace and quiet. Woodlands is reached by a footpath through the beech wood (about 200 yards) from Bismore where there is parking. The nearby village of Eastcombe is about a quarter of a mile and has a pub with good food, a shop with freshly baked bread and a post office, a Baptist chapel and a church (C of E). Other nearby villages are Bisley, just over a mile, and Oakridge, both with pubs and good food. A network of public footpaths provides walkers with easy access to the Toadsmoor valley and the surrounding countryside. Slad valley and the Woolpack Inn, of Laurie Lee fame, are less than 3 miles walk with stunning views from Swifts Hill on the way. Minchinhampton and Rodborough commons are also less than 3 miles away on foot or by car.

Local towns include Stroud, 5 miles away which has a main line to Paddington, Nailsworth 4 miles, Tetbury 8 miles, Cirencester 9 miles, Cheltenham and Gloucester, both about 14 miles. The M5 access is 10 miles, and the M4 is 28 miles. Bath, Bristol and Swindon are about 40 minutes away, as are Slimbridge Wildfowl Trust, Westonbirt Arboretum, the Cotswold Water Park, the Forest of Dean and the Wye valley beauty spots. We are close to Badminton, Gatcombe and Cheltenham Race Course. So, you can be assured that if you are tempted to leave your hideaway cottage, there is a wealth of things to do very close to hand. Shopping, things of historical interest, walking, or simply enjoying this beautiful region. The South Cotswolds offer a wealth of picturesque villages, churches, museums and old pubs. Best of all in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) are the breath-taking views and innumerable hidden valleys. The area is great for walking, touring and shopping - or simply relaxing.

The Cottage: is clearly very tucked away, though not completely isolated, with civilization being just a quarter mile away. It sleeps four in two double rooms, and has a kitchen / dining area with electric cooker, microwave, fridge, washing machine and clothes dryer, and a cosy and comfortable living room with open log fire. There is central heating, making this a perfect choice for lazy winter weekends away, and in summer there is a large decking area for al fresco meals complete with barbeque.
