Set back from the road in the centre of pleasant gardens, and dating from the early 1600s, the property is situated in the village of Chickerell. It is three miles west of Weymouth and one mile from the Dorset coastal path, which skirts the Fleet, the narrow lagoon, between Chesil Beach and the mainland. The house is conveniently situated to explore West Dorset, which is a protected area of natural beauty. The area is noted for its bird population, with the Lodmoor and Radipole bird sanctuaries at Weymouth and, six miles to the west, the Swannery at Abbotsbury, an attractive village which is also noted for it's Sub Tropical Gardens. Seven miles south is the Isle of Portland and eight miles north is the county town of Dorchester.

The village store, post office, newsagent, pharmacy, hairdresser, library and doctor's surgery are all within 300 yards, and there are also pubs and a restaurant offering a variety of food. Weymouth itself has a good selection of shops, restaurants and pubs, and a stunning sheltered beach with a panoramic view of the bay. Boat trips are available from the quay, and there are many things of interest in the town.

The Annexe: offers comfortable accommodation, with stairs from the entrance hall to the main rooms. There is a lounge / dining room with electric fire, TV / VCR, DVD player and stereo Hi-Fi. The kitchen has electric cooker, microwave and refrigerator. Patio doors lead to the patio with garden furniture where you can access the gardens. There is one double and one twin bedroom, and a bathroom with corner bath, shower, shaver point, WC and washbasin. Telephone for outgoing calls only, and an automatic washing machine and tumble drier is available on request.

Bed and Breakfast (with full English breakfast) is available in the main house with two double rooms, both with en-suite facilities, colour TV with Ceefax, and tea and coffee making facilities. Guest lounge with TV and Hi-Fi, and the garden and patio area are available for quiet relaxation.

There is ample car parking.
