The
Mill House, Bayton, Worcestershire. This 17th Century former Millhouse, an oak-beamed wing to the main farmhouse is a listed building and has been carefully converted to provide modern comforts with period charm. Many of the original architectural features have been retained, such as the unpainted beams and trusses in the roof - now part of the reception area; and quarry-tiled window-sills, entrance floor and metal-framed casements. These all contribute to the character of the cottage, as do its stunning hill-top views of the magnificent oak-treed, rolling countryside of the Worcestershire/Shropshire borders, known as The Heart of England which spreads out uninterrupted right from the garden boundaries to the South and West . Some truly memorable sunsets can be watched from our large lawn - setting behind the Shropshire Hills! The Mill House sits beside the ancient Church on one edge of the small, peaceful village of Bayton. Bayton is part of a conservation area and has many old and attractive houses of character. We are 20 miles north-east of Worcester, 12 miles east of medieval Ludlow, 6 miles west of Georgian Bewdley, 30 miles south-west of Shrewsbury and 30 miles south of Birmingham. 1 mile from Clows Top off the A456. Although the cottage feels like it's 'in the middle of nowhere' amidst glorious scenery, quaint buildings and friendly people there is easy access to numerous places of interest. Things to do around the area
include: Horse Riding from Cleobury Mortimer, The Rivers Teme and Rea give
permit access for fishing as do several stocked pools. The River Severn is
a short drive away - and is also a starting-point for some long-distance
footpaths. Wonderful views to paint - or just sit and admire! The Mill House:
The 1st floor living area is open-plan and provides comfortable seating for dining and 'lounging'. Colour TV/video. Good selection of books/games and tourist information. The kitchen is
well-equipped; dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer and washing machine.
(In wet weather tumble drying is available by arrangement with owner at
additional cost.) Electric oven and hob. There is a wide range of cooking
and tableware. Smokers accepted. Dogs by arrangement only.
