This beautiful, Gothic Victorian house is well positioned for visiting the many attractions in the region, Wells with it's cathedral and wonderful Saturday market, Bath with it's spa and abbey, Dunster, Bristol, Glastonbury and the famous Cheddar Gorge caves. The beaches are also not too far away, at Weston Super Mare and Brean Sands, both places offering much to attract the visitor. The village of Winscombe has shops and a pub with an excellent restaurant area, but further afield you will find a multitude of shops, restaurants, and activities to suit all ages.

Mulberry: is the south wing of the main house with its own separate entrance, which has recently been refurbished to a high standard whilst retaining many original features, and now offers superb 4 star accommodation with all modern facilities. The property is located close to the beautiful church of St. James, steeped in history, with a much renowned yew tree in its' grounds dating back to the Doomsday Book.  Legend has it that a secret passage leads from the house to the church, but as yet this is unproven! The National Trust grounds almost border the property, offering a superb opportunity for walking.

Refurbishments have been carried out sympathetically in order to preserve the history of the property, with many of the rooms retaining much original character; cornices, original staircase,  wooden floors, etc. Being on two floors, there is a large, comfortably furnished reception room with log burner, TV / Video and a selection of children's games. The spacious, open plan kitchen / dining room is fully fitted and offers a dining table seating eight, a 5 burner hob and large oven, fridge, dishwasher and microwave, with a freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer in the nearby utility room, which also has a separate WC. The kitchen cupboards are stocked with basic items which you are asked to replace on departure, and there is a selection of home made food in the freezer, which is available for a reasonable charge.

The bedrooms are located on the first floor, and are well furnished and spacious. There is a double with king size bed and en-suite shower room / WC, a further double also with king size bed, and two twin rooms, each having two 3' beds. Also on this floor is the family bathroom, with roll top bath and original fittings.

Outside, there is a good sized garden with a charming seating area under the old mulberry tree; beyond is the "secret garden", perfect for children, with a tree house, climbing frame and swing. The Victorian tennis court has been restored, with racquets available for hire, and a croquet set can also be supplied for your enjoyment.
