Steeple Barn is situated in the heart of
this picturesque village, nestling under Eyam Edge, perhaps best
known as the plague village, as in 1665 the great plague killed 287
of the 350 villagers, who had isolated themselves from the outside world to
stop the plague spreading. The village offers some excellent local
facilities, but at the same time being close to some good
walking. Moving out from the village, there are many attractions
worthy of a visit, including; Eyam Hall, Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall,
Bakewell, the caverns of Castleton and the spa town of Buxton to name but a
few.
Steeple barn: has been recently renovated to provide spacious
accommodation; as you enter through the hall into the well fitted and
equipped kitchen dining area, exposed beams and the old decorative
cooking range set into the imposing gritstone fireplace. This room
has two occasional settees (one suitable as an occasional sofa bed)
giving you a second sitting room. A single step takes you to the
main entrance hall off which are the two ground floor bedrooms, one
with two single beds, the second having two adult size bunk beds.
Also on the ground floor is a bathroom containing a shower cubicle
with electric shower, hand basin and toilet.
The stairs lead to the very spacious main lounge with
it's gas, coal effect fire and spectacular views across Eyam Edge.
Also on this floor are the two remaining bedrooms, one with a double
bed and containing an en-suite shower room with hand basin and
toilet. The second bedroom has two further adult size bunk beds. The
main bathroom has a bath, hand basin and toilet.
There is a
patio garden to the side and rear of the
cottage.
Services: Duvets, linen and towels
provided. Gas fired central heating. Oven, hob, microwave,
fridge-freezer, washer/dryer and dishwasher. Colour TV and colour
TVs in all bedrooms. Video and hi-fi system. Cot and highchair
available. Parking for three cars, external lighting, garden
furniture, barbecue, patio garden.
