Butcombe Farm           Terrace and pool

Butcombe Farm, North Somerset.
14th Century Manor House, B&B accommodation,
8 Self Catering Cottages, sleeping from 2 to 6.

A warm and friendly welcome awaits you in the congenial surroundings of Butcombe Farm. Dating from the 14th Century, Butcombe Farm is now beautifully restored, set amidst 8 acres of field and woodland. The main house is grade II listed and commands a splendid view across the valley towards the Mendip hills.

The sympathetic restoration of the house and outbuildings, giving bed and breakfast as well as self catering accommodation, has led to the creation of a holiday setting combining modern facilities with the peace and tranquillity of a rural environment.
The refurbishment of the eight, 17th century, stone-built cottages, includes central heating, fitted carpets, telephones, colour television and video, with functional kitchens complete with cooker, hob, microwave and refrigerator. Bed linen and towels are provided and there is no charge for electricity.

Butcombe Farm, located at the doorway to the south west of England, provides an ideal location for whatever style of holiday you are seeking. You can relax with aromatherapy treatments on-site, country walks, visits to local houses and gardens and enjoy good food in some of the excellent country pubs around. Alternatively, just lounge in the courtyard, by the pool, with a gin and tonic.
For a more active holiday, our outdoor heated pool is usually open from May to September, the gym and games room  are open all year and clay pigeon shooting is also available on site. Locally, try fishing at the world renowned Blagdon Lake, there are a number of stables, a local dry ski slope and a variety of excellent golf courses all within easy driving distance. You can try rock climbing at Cheddar, orienteering on the Mendips or take a hot air balloon flight from Blagdon.
Further afield, Cheltenham, Bath and Chepstow provide regular opportunities for a day at the races.

For those interested in history, Bath, with its' Roman Spa and glorious Georgian architecture, Bristol with its' tobacco and wine trade, the Clifton Suspension Bridge and the SS Great Britain and the replica of Cabots' ship "Matthew" are within easy driving distance. Culturally, Bristol and Bath offer a wealth of museums, theatres, cinemas, galleries and media centres. Bristol attractions also include the "Explore@Bristol" science centre, the "Wildscreen@Bristol" botanical house and the IMAX cinema showing 2D and 3D presentations.
