Lake Lodge is a
unique family home on the edge of Maxey village, overlooking a
private lake providing stunning views. It is set in grounds of 18
acres which include an acre of garden with several specimen trees, a
tennis court, woodland and lakes. It is accessed from a private road
with automatic gates and provides a peaceful and relaxing location,
perfect for relieving stress. Seasonal carp fishing is available for
two rods on an established fishing lake and the grounds are
populated by a great variety of birds and other wildlife. The house
has recently been renovated and it is equipped to a high standard. A
professional chef can provide meals if arranged in advance.
Locally there are several public footpaths for exploring the area,
including one alongside the River Welland. The Green Wheel National
Cycle Route which has an outer route of 45 miles with several inner
sections is close by. Nearby villages provide several local inns
which serve meals and local ales. Market Deeping is just five
minutes away and has two supermarkets, restaurants, takeaways and a
large variety of shops and a pool and fitness centre.
Nearby attractions include Tallington Lakes Resort which is only
four miles away and provides most water sports as well as ski and
snowboarding slopes and a climbing wall; the Nene Valley Railway;
Sacrewell Farm Park, Thorney Childrens Action Park and Flag Fen
Bronze Age Centre.
The city of Peterborough is only 15 minutes away and provides all
amenities including a cinema, theatre, museum, cathedral, bowling
alley, ice skating rink, swimming and fitness centre, greyhound
stadium, karting, laser games, railworld and Queensgate shopping
centre. Peterborough Station is on the east coast main line and
provides access to London (55 minutes)York and Edinburgh, amongst
other tourist towns.
Lake Lodge is ideally located for exploring the Midlands and East
Anglia. Nearby are the historic town of Stamford, the home of Burghley House and its Gardens of Surprise and the famous George
Hotel; Rutland Water and Oakham with the nearby famous Geoff
Hamilton Gardens; Cambridge, Duxford Air Museum and the North
Norfolk resorts are just over one hour away and the Cotswolds are
easily accessible.
The Lodge:
A tiled porch leads into a large parquet floored hall. The spacious
lounge has a large bay window giving wonderful views over the lake
and the sunsets can be spectacular. Through an archway the dining
room also overlooks the lake and has French doors onto a patio, it
has a table that seats eight but extends to seat twelve and is
separated from a large open plan kitchen by a breakfast bar. The
kitchen is well equipped and fully fitted with granite topped units,
a gas range cooker, microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. There
is a utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer and small
fridge, a planted conservatory and large garage that can house two
cars, bikes, fishing equipment, etc. The hall has French doors
leading onto an enclosed patio that includes an herb garden and has
a barbecue and outdoor dining furniture.
Downstairs a twin-bedded room overlooks the lake and there is also a
double bedroom, family bathroom and cloakroom on this floor.
Upstairs has a master bedroom with king-size bed, dressing room and
en-suite bathroom with wet-room shower, all overlooking the lake,
and an en-suite twin/ double bedroom.
There is a wide screen television with Sky Entertainment, Sports and
Children's Channels and DVD in the lounge, music centre with I-pod
dock, large selection of books and games in the dining room and
small flat screen television/DVD in the master bedroom.
There is oil fired central heating and the large gravel drive can
accommodate at least six cars.
A cot, high chair and stair gate are available on request but
parents should be aware that the lake is unfenced. We regret that we
are unable to accept pets or smokers in the house and are unable to
allow water sports on the lake.
