Bruisyard Hall, Saxmundham,
Suffolk. Bruisyard Hall is spacious and yet despite its grandeur, retains a homely and comfortable atmosphere. Full of history from its colourful past, it has at least one priest's "hideyhole", a "sweet toned bell", oak staircases and floors and a warren of unfurnished rooms in the attic. Downstairs the spacious Hall with its 16th Century beams leads into the Drawing Room with oak floor, stone fireplace and large window. This ancient site faces South to the upper reaches of the River Alde. It is surrounded by meadow with moat and fishponds at the back. The house has recently been totally refurbished with oil fired central heating, re-plumbing and re-wiring. Sleeping 20 people in 10 bedrooms with five bathrooms, it combines grandeur and style with comfort and homeliness. The house allows a large party to be all together or to spread about as the mood takes. One of the many joys is to sit in the Porch and soak up the tranquillity of the Suffolk countryside. The bedrooms are comfortably furnished with twin beds while the Master Bedroom with its moulded ceiling and antique bed has a wonderful view across the valley from its two South facing windows.
