Enjoy the peaceful tranquility
of Templand, set in the heart of the Nith Valley, overlooking
the River Nith with spectacular views down the Nith Valley, and only
half a mile from the village of Thornhill, with shops, hotels and
restaurants. On site facilities include a golf practice net and safe
children's play area with swings and wendy house, a swimming pool
(heated to 80 degrees F) housed inside a log cabin with underwater
lights, powerful counter-swim water jet, changing room and toilet.
The sauna is next to the along with a multi-gym and rowing machine,
and there is a games room with pool table, table tennis, juke box
and games, and a video library with over 200 films free of charge.
The patio outside the pool has a gas barbecue and picnic tables.
If you can be tempted away from your holiday home, there is
plenty to see and do in the area, including 27 golf courses, fishing
on the Nith, the leading salmon and sea-trout river in south-west
Scotland, horse riding and various other activities, and cycles are
available for your use. We can arrange fishing on the Mid or Upper
Nithsdale associations or on any of the private estate waters, and
If you are a beginner we offer free tuition on fly fishing and free
rod and reel hire, and we also have golf clubs and bags to use free
of charge. There are many interesting place to visit, including
Thornhill, just half a mile away, with its wide streets lined with
lime trees and fine monument at the centre is half a mile away. It
has an excellent selection of shops and restaurants and parking is
plentiful. The area has many castles and historic house worth
visiting: Drumlanrig Castle and Country Park by Thornhill,
Maxwellton House, the home of Annie Laurie, is 6 miles away,
Caerlaverock Castle, one of Scotland's greatest forts is now a
nature and wildfowl centre, and the village of Wanlockhead, 10 miles
north, is the highest in Scotland, and offers, in the mining museum,
a wealth of information on the centuries when gold, silver and
copper were mined there.
The Cottages: are situated around a landscaped courtyard in
quiet rolling countryside overlooking the Nith Valley to the south
and the west, and the Lowther Hills to the east. The old sandstone
farm buildings have been beautifully renovated, and are equipped to
the highest standards with double glazing, central heating, patio
doors, wooden beams and luxury bathrooms. Fitted carpets in the
lounges and bedrooms. Colour TV and video with free hire of over 200
films. All the cottages have fully fitted and equipped kitchens with
microwave oven, split level oven with hob and fridge, and there is a
laundry room in the courtyard with washing and drying facilities.

Templand Cottage sleeps 5 adults or 4
adults and 2 children and comprises of: master bedroom with en-suite
shower and toilet upstairs. Downstairs: one twin bedded room, one
bunk bedded room, bathroom and shower, patio, hall, lounge/diner and
kitchen.
Drumlanrig Cottage sleeps 4 (all on ground floor) and
comprises of patio, hall, lounge/diner, kitchen, bathroom and
shower, 1 double bedroom and 1 twin bedded room.
Jane Welsh and Thomas Carlyle, each sleep 4. Patio, hall,
lounge/diner, kitchen, downstairs twin bedroom and bathroom,
upstairs twin bedroom (with balcony overlooking the lounge) and
en-suite shower and toilet.
Morton and Dalgarnock Cottages Morton cottage sleeps 3. The
bedroom has a king sized bed and there is a sofa bed in the lounge,
and Dalgarnock cottage sleeps 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children in
1 twin bedroom and double sofa bed in the lounge. Both cottages have
patio, hall, lounge/dinning room, kitchen, bathroom and shower
