Wootton Wawen :
The ancient Warwickshire village of Wootton Wawen lies in the heart of the old Forest of Arden, 6 miles north of Stratford-upon-Avon on A3400. At it’s centre is the county’s oldest church, St. Peter’s, with it’s notable Saxon sanctuary which is well worth a visit. Nearby, the grounds of 17thC Wootton Hall slope down to the same River Alne , on the banks of which further down stream our farm and cottages are situated. Black and white cottages are reminders of an historic past but the village is fortunate to retain modern amenities including “an open all hours” general store, post office, two pubs,  garage and filling station and a craft centre. Road and rail links mean people can travel by car, bus and train-or even arrive by narrow boat on the Stratford canal!

Out & About :
Within easy driving distance are Stratford-upon-Avon, with the Shakespeare properties and world famous Royal Shakespeare Theatre, and the historic castles of Warwick and Kenilworth. Other places high on any visitor’s list range from the National Trust’s Coughton Court, with its Gunpowder Plot associations, to Coventry’s striking modern cathedral. Major exhibitions and international concerts are held at the National Exhibition Centre. More informal occasions - shopping, cinema going, wining and dining - are extensively catered for in Warwickshire’s towns and villages. Only forty minutes drive away brings the heart of the Cotswolds, the Malvern Hills or, as the children will soon tell you, Cadbury’s Chocolate World.

Is there ample parking? Plenty, so if friends wish to visit during your stay, no problem

I see you are near a river Can we fish? Yes. You will need a rod license, and bring your own tackle

We are keen walkers.  Our land has a bridleway on it, so that’s where you start.( OS map supplied)

Piggery Cottages:
We have three luxury cottages, two of which face one another across a spacious courtyard, whilst the third nestles on it’s own beside the River Alne rendering it ideal for the keen fisherman. We call that one “The Bolt Hole”. All three are converted 18thC farm buildings, offering every comfort and amenity to ensure a carefree family holiday away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Each cottage is centrally heated, with a fully fitted kitchen including cooker, microwave, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. Bedrooms are en-suite with towels and bed linen all provided. Cottages are also equipped with television, video recorder and hi-fi – even your own private library. Guests are free to roam our 25 acres of farmland, stroll along the banks of the River Alne, or explore further afield on the well-marked bridleways and footpaths. Guests other than those staying in “ The Bolt Hole” are invited to make use of the fully equipped gymnasium and games room and our bubble domed swimming pool which is heated during the summer months.

The Old Forge: is a 2 storey converted barn sleeping 6 people, offering an unusual layout with 3 staircases, 2 of which are spiral. It has 3 bedrooms, all with en suite facilities, a comfortably furnished living room with wood burning stove, dining room and a fully equipped kitchen with fridge / freezer, cooker, microwave, washing machine and dishwasher.

The Bull Pen: Disabled friendly, and sleeping 6 people just across the courtyard from The Old Forge, making both an excellent choice for larger parties who wish to retain their independence. It has 2 double bedrooms and one twin bedroom, with three bathrooms, two of the bedrooms being downstairs making it excellent for the less able. There is a comfortably furnished living room and a dining room, also a fully equipped kitchen which has a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge / freezer, microwave, oven / hob and clothes dryer.

The Bolt Hole: being the jewel in the crown, nestling alongside the river and offering peace and solitude, with lovely views of the river meandering through the meadows. Once an animal refuge, now a cottage converted with style and retaining it's character, offering open plan accommodation and giving a feeling of space and comfort, and sleeps 4/5. The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge / freezer, cooker, microwave, washing machine and dishwasher, and has a breakfast bar and dining table and chairs. The living area is tastefully and comfortably furnished, and for added charm there is a minstrel gallery with spiral staircase, leading to a tiny room which can be used for watching the wildlife, or the night time stars, or if needed a spare bedroom. Downstairs, at each end of the living area, there are two double bedrooms both with en suite facilities.
